On January 30, 2024, the United States Attorney's Office charged Mendes with one count of conspiracy to falsify records, one count of conspiracy to commit extortion, three counts of falsification of records, and two counts of false statement.[3]
On April 11, 2025, Mendes pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to falsify records, three counts of falsifying records, and two counts of making false statements.[4]
On August 7, 2025, Mendes was sentenced to one month in prison.[5]
