2021 Death of Isaiah Rodriguez
On November 3, 2021, Castro was off-duty and driving approximately 90 mph in a 25 mph school zone when he hit a vehicle containing 12-year-old Rodriguez and his sister.[1][2]
Rodriguez died at the hospital.[1]
The incident was captured on a surveillance camera.[3]
Response Timeline
On February 14, 2023, Castro was arrested and charged with murder, vehicular manslaughter, and reckless driving causing great bodily injury. Castro faces up to 25 years to life if convicted.[1][4]
