Incident Reports

2019-2023 Bribery

From April 2019, Jenkins accepted bribes from several businessmen in exchange for naming them as auxiliary deputy sheriffs and issuing badges and identification cards.[4]

Response Timeline

On June 29, 2023, Jenkins was indicted and charged with one count of conspiracy, four counts of honest-services mail and wire fraud, and eight counts of federal programs bribery. Jenkins faces up to 165 years in prison if convicted.[4]

On July 14, 2023, Jenkins pleaded not guilty.[5]

On November 7, 2023, Jenkins lost his bid for re-election and will exit as Sheriff in January.[6]
