2023 Death of Jesus Guzman Jr
On April 29, 2023, officers attempted to stop Guzman's vehicle for a traffic violation. Guzman fled on foot. Bryant chased Guzman and shot him. Guzman died.[1]
Response Timeline
The California Department of Justice will conduct an independent investigation of the shooting, which is required under state law for officer-involved shootings of unarmed individuals.[2]
