2012 Death of Donnie Plater

On October 24, 2012, Denby and Corporal Michael Welch responded to a report of a man threatening a woman with a gun inside a vehicle. The officers located the vehicle and pursued it. The driver stopped, exited the vehicle, and fired at the officers. The officers returned fire, striking Plater.[1]

Plater and the woman were declared dead at the scene.[1]

The department cleared the officers of any wrong-doing.[5]
