On February 21, 2023, the King County Prosecutor's Office announced that they would not be bringing charges against Dave, having "determined that we lack sufficient evidence under Washington State law to prove a criminal case beyond a reasonable doubt".[4]
Kandula's family filed a lawsuit against the city and Dave.[5]
