2023 Suspension
After the arrest of Chief Shawn Denning, the city investigated the department more deeply. An undisclosed behavior by McAtee drew her to the investigation's attention.[1]

On February 24, 2023, McAtee was suspended without pay for five months. The suspension will last until her planned retirement on July 15, 2023.[1]

On March 13, 2024, McAtee was charged with conspiring to sell methamphetamine.[4]
On May 1, 2024, McAtee pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.[2]
In May 2025, McAtee was sentenced to 3 years' probation.[5]
On September 15, 2025, the town's police pension board suspended McAtee's pension.[6]
