On November 12, 2023, Lewis and other officers responded to a house fire. The officers broke down the door to rescue a father and his two children.[5]

On December 4, 2023, Lewis and other officers received the department's Life Saving Award and an award from the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department.[5]

On May 17, 2024, the Rock County District Attorney found that Lewis "acted lawfully", "in self-defense", and there was "no basis for prosecution of a criminal offense".[6] ‎
