Response Timeline

In 2020, Sowl filed a civil lawsuit against the city and the officers involved.[4]

Sowl's lawsuit claims that Brown prompted Officer Benjamin DeLima to mute his body camera to engage in a conspiracy.[5]

The lawsuit was settled in 2021.[4]
